I am 23 years, born 11 February 1995. I am from Kwamakhutha but i was born in Mthunzini, Empangeni, where i had been living with my mother until the age of 5. We then moved to live in Estcourt where i attended pre-school and grade one at Drakensview Primary School. during this time i had not met my father, but i did towards the end of 2002 at age 7. Soon after that, early 2003 i moved to Durban, Kwamakhutha after uniting with my paternal family and meeting them for the first time by mistake, where i then lived with my grandmother, my father and some of my cousin brothers. i was enrolled at Penzance Primary School in Umbilo near King Edward Hospital, where i completed my 7th grade in 2008. In 2009 i moved on to Glenwood Boys High School where i Completed my matric in 2014.
My love for music was influenced by poetry when i was 8 years old arriving in Durban. My late grandmother had bought us a Childcraft book collection ranging from number 1 to 15. with number one being a “Poems and Rhymes” book, it seemed to be the only book i was interested in.
Therefore because we were also reading Dr Seus books at school, this book made sense to me. Even at the school library i started taking out poetry books.
My older cousin brothers were into Hip Hop music, they were into your Biggie Smalls and your 2Pacs. However at that point i wasn’t really a Hip Hop fanatic, i listened to it …but not that much, but i could tell that the poetry i was into and the Hip Hop were very similar. Mostly because of the rhyming. In 2005, when Lil Wayne blew up, that’s when i went crazy about Hip Hop. Mainly because he was using the type of English and slang that i could relate to. That’s when i started writing my own rap lyrics, i would download instrumentals of existing songs and write my own lyrics. A few months later…drake came out, i went crazy, i literally breathed hip hop, its all i listened to, at that point i had written so many lyrics that i still used some of them in my matric year. i committed myself to being an artist. I recorded my first song when i was 16 with a friend of mine who goes by the name of Millz_Like The Wind mill, who previously went by the name X-Hosa before. Everyone who heard the song at home or at school was very impressed and asking for it, it was called “One Two”. Everyday after school i would walk to his house to record because he could produce and he was a rapper. And we recorded that first song using earphones and a laptop.
So since then i’ve been writing and recording music until today, i’ve never looked back or doubted myself as a rapper or an artist in general. my favourite rappers in the industry right now are Cassper Nyovest, Nasty C and Kwesta and my biggest goal or wish for this year is to collaborate with at least one of them. The style of music i make is anything Hip Hop.
I Don’t like categorizing myself too much because that limits me and my music.
- This year 2019 has started very well for me, i released a music video in January, did a collaboration with Zakwe in March and and was interviewed on a TV show called Memeza in March as well .
