At Tholispani.Space, we have a deep appreciation for people and community. We are always on the lookout for young South Africans who are following their dreams. Whether they are involved in the art, fashion, or music industries, we want to learn more about them and their passions. This week, we will be featuring up-and-coming model Melissa Magiera.
23-year-old Melissa Magiera has been acting for several years. However, it wasn’t until a friend prompted her to enter the Top Model South Africa competition in 2018 that her career really took off. Melissa was the only model from Cape Town to place in the Top 38. Not only did Melissa catch the eyes of many influential people in the modeling industry during the Top Model competition, but she also won the entire competition! Born in the Cape Flats, winning an internationally-recognized modeling competition was never something that Melissa thought she would do in her lifetime. She had hoped that entering the modeling competition would give her exposure, but she had no idea that it would propel her into a lucrative, full-time modeling career.
Melisa Magiera road to Success.
Melissa worked extremely hard both before and during Top Model, from gyming every day to always giving her best during competitions. However, Melissa’s road to modeling success wasn’t always easy. Back in matric, her former modeling agency body-shamed her and she went through a period of self-doubt and poor health in an effort to lose weight.
But those days are long behind her! Since winning Top Model South Africa, Magiera has been modeled for the Sports Science Institute of South Africa, Daniel Wellington, Sorbet, Spree, Infin8ty, and more.
One thing is for sure: Melissa Magiera is going places and we can’t wait to see what she does next.
